The partners of the project “”FSMI in Bulgaria”held their regular monthly meeting in August.

Despite the summer period, the CEED Bulgaria team and our partners from the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry held their regular project meeting in August under the initiative “Functionally Sustainable Migration and Integration in Bulgaria (FSMI in Bulgaria).”

A key focus of the discussions was the upcoming national round table, which will take place on September 25, 2025, in Sofia. The event will be held in a hybrid format and will bring together participants from various sectors – representatives of national and local authorities, international and non-governmental organizations, academia, business associations, and employers engaged in the integration of third-country nationals into the Bulgarian labor market.

👉 Those interested in participating in the round table can fill in the registration form

During the event, the following will be presented:

  • the results of a survey among Bulgarian companies on their attitudes toward employing third-country nationals;

  • a methodology developed by the project team for reducing the administrative burden in attracting third-country workers;

  • a discussion on the topic “How to achieve functional and sustainable migration in Bulgaria.”

At the latest project meeting, several key conclusions were also discussed regarding the reduction of administrative burdens in hiring third-country workers:

  • Coordinated efforts between institutions, businesses, and international partners are needed to streamline procedures through digitalization, optimization, and better awareness.

  • Clear and transparent rules facilitate interaction between employers, institutions, and job candidates, creating a more supportive environment for integration.

  • Monitoring and feedback ensure the sustainability of measures and allow adaptation to the real needs of businesses and third-country nationals.
