CEED Bulgaria, in partnership with the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), held a regional hybrid meeting with employers in Burgas under the “Functionally Sustainable Migration and Integration in Bulgaria” project. The event was hosted by the Burgas Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The main objective of the meeting was to present the results achieved so far under the project, demonstrate the new online employment platform www.bgjobsportal.com, and discuss key challenges faced by employers in hiring third-country nationals. Special emphasis was placed on sharing best practices and formulating recommendations for an effective process of securing qualified labour in Bulgaria.
“The project promotes legal migration and the attraction of high-quality human capital for sustainable economic development,” emphasized Stanislav Chervenkov, Deputy Director of CEED Bulgaria. He noted that the project’s efforts are focused on strengthening cooperation and information exchange between Bulgaria and non-EU countries, including Moldova, Albania, Ukraine, Armenia, and Vietnam.
During the event, the new platform bgjobsportal.com was presented, offering free registration for both job seekers and employers and enabling direct real-time communication.
The meeting brought together over 50 representatives from business and local authorities. Among the attendees were Stanimir Apostolov, Deputy Mayor of Burgas, and representatives of BCCI, who highlighted the project’s importance for the tourism sector and the platform’s usefulness as a tool to streamline the hiring of foreign workers.
Gabriela Dimitrova from BCCI presented the results of a survey among employers, showing that 78% reported a need for additional workforce, and nearly 64% expressed willingness to hire third-country nationals. Beata Papazova, Advisor for European Integration and Projects at BCCI, presented the methodology developed under the project to reduce administrative burden in hiring foreign workers.
The event in Burgas underscored CEED Bulgaria’s leading role as a driver of sustainable labour market solutions, business support, and the promotion of legal migration.
